We are immensely proud to congratulate the two Argentine films that had their world premieres in the 'Concorso Cineasti del Presente' at the 2025 Locarno Film Festival: Hijo Mayor, directed by Cecilia Kang, and Olivia, directed by Sofía Petersen

Olivia—produced by Animitas Cine—is an intense film with stunning imagery, shot on 35mm in Tierra del Fuego. Due to the small production crew on set, the production sound was captured under challenging conditions. At Fransound, we spent an intense week working closely with the director, the lead actress, and an enthusiastic group of actors to record all the ADR tracks. These recordings bring a sense of intimacy and precision to the sonic vision of sound designer Pietu Korhonen (known for his work on Aki Kaurismäki’s Fallen Leaves)

Regarding Hijo Mayor, director Cecilia Kang is a longtime collaborator of the studio. Our partnership spans over ten years, including at least three feature films and two shorts.
Produced by Tarea Fina, Hijo Mayor is her first fiction feature, uniquely portraying her Korean family's immigration to Argentina and the unfolding journeys of that transition. The film is an international co-production and was mixed in Rochefort, France.
Alongside Constanza Pando, we performed the production sound editing and developed the initial sound design before handing the project over to our French colleagues for the final stages.
